Dishwasher breakdown repairs
After completing a full cycle, a little pool of clear water inside the appliance is quite normal. But an amount of water that is more than the normal indicates that the pump is not pumping out water properly, the drain hose is not carrying it to the drain pipe or the drain of the house lines are backed up. If you see dirty water spewing from an air gap, it means drain line is blocked. Removing cover from the air gap:
At the top of the sink, remove the cover from the air gap (generally ashort chrome cylinder that is adjusted at the back of the sink) and clean it out using a stiff wire. It is necessary to thoroughly check the full length of the drain hose for blockages or clogs typically at the drain connection to the drain line or to the disposer.
Let the appliance cool:
Before you start the dishwasher repairs, completely turn off the power. Let it be cool for some time and never try to touch the bottom right after the wash cycle. Remove the strainer when it gets cool; it is located under the bottom spray arm right at the base of cabinet. Lift the spray arm off after unscrewing the hubcap and then remove the clips responsible for holding the strainer to get it out. Clean it while scrubbing properly with the help of a brush and put it back on its previous place.
Sink trap is blocked:
While doing the dishwasher repairs, you also have to determine if the house drain line is stuck. If you see the water backing up in the sink, it is confirmed that the drain is blocked.
If the dishwasher is still blocked:
After checking the entire appliance, if the dishwasher is still not working accurately, the problem might be in the drain hose or the drain valve may require replacement. The drain hose should also be cleared from obstructions.
